TAN is 10 digits alphanumeric number and is used as an abbreviation for Tax Deduction and Collection Account number.Every Tax deductor is required to quote the TAN No. while making any payment of tax to the Account of Central Government.
You can see the TAN No. from your Form 26AS/Form 16/Form 16A.
TAN of the employer is not required in case of self-assessment and advance tax.
